Was up 'til 2am this mornng getting the Matrox TripleHead2Go running on the Viz Lab's three screen (and very old) ViewStation 36. These are three of those old heavy projectors with the CRT guns (red/green/blue) that display side by side to a single screen. The Matrox product worked pefectly, but aligning those CRTs was quite painful. Anyway, now we can display Google Earth across the entire display. Very cool.

Remember the 'big equipment' I alluded to? Well, so far this morning, I have seen GM's hybrid trucks that have 2400W power supplies in them. You wouldn't even know they had this power capability, as the outlets are under the drivers seat and embedded in the wall of the pickup bed. Ruggedized, and I am told by Cindy Svestka, GM Integration Engineer, Two-mode Hybrid Energy and Drive Quality, that the performance of the vehicle, even with the added electrical system, is identical to its non-enhanced counterpart. As long as the engine is running, there are four standard 120V outlets for use. And this is just the morning!

....

Just got back from the site, and can already see that activity is increasing. We stored some 43" plasma TVs for video conferencing through VSee (Milton Chen), as well as other support gear. Heavy stuff, glad Shawn Dunn was around to help out in the unloading. We used the GM trucks with the generators in them. Amazing air conditioning units.

Finally saw the elusive Dave Warner in the lab today. Like the sound of a race car going by, he was there and gone so fast I barely had time to take his picture (so I had proof I actually say him).

Had a great conversation with Doug Hanchard of Bell Canada. Nice guy, we had an amazing conversation about cell phone hacking.

Sony sent us a crazy (and heavy) camera that takes a 360 picture, and if it senses movement, another camera in the unit focuses directly on it. Can't wait to see it up and running. We played with a smaller unit for the technology demonstration for July 4th. Had moderate results. This unit is the one we used big cousin. I'll bet it is amazing.

Up again late to transport equipment to the site, and ultimately ended up at the Pita Pit. I need sleep!
